Buddleja 'Ellen's Blue' is a relatively recent introduction, raised from a chance seedling of 'Lochinch' in the garden of Ellen Hornig at Oswego, New York. [1] The shrub has been accorded the RHS Award of Garden Merit. [1]
'Ellen's Blue' typically grows to a height of only 1.5 m, but is covered with terminal panicles 20 - 25 cm long comprising blue-violet flowers. The leaves are of a comparatively small size. [2]
'Ellen's Blue' is in commerce in the USA. Only one specimen is known in the UK, donated to the Longstock Park Nursery, the NCCPG national collection holder, by the Bernheim Arboretum. USDA zones 5 - 9. [1][2]
